ECHAUFFEMENTS, 2011
Performance, Installation

Warm-ups with artists & dancers, a series of movements that explores notions of body process, exertion and time.

Creating surprising moments of physicality in mostly tidy and silent spaces. Lasting about 20 minutes, with simple but rigorous exercises and stretches made to warm up the dancers body for performances. The warm-ups end up being quite intense, and the breathing bodily sounds of the dancers often ends up filling up silent cavernous spaces. Passer-bys are amused and surprised at the contrast of the physical grit and the beauty of the movements, and also the contrast of the messy bodily process to the silence and perfection of the museum spaces.

Performed and produced with HEAD (Haute école d'art et de design, Genève) & EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) Public Space project www.e-publicspace.net
